John Steiner


Originally from New York City, John Steiner has lived in San Francisco, working as a performer, composer, producer and educator since 1989.  John holds a B.A. in Music from San Francisco State University. Presently he serves  as  Minister of Music for the San Francisco Center for Spiritual Living and pianist for the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael. 


He has recorded, produced and toured with Jennifer Holiday, New Edition, Bobby Brown and Patti Austin,  Shabaz, the Venusians, and Bogo Fusion. He has composed for films aired on ABC and PBS, and shown at The San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, The Ann Arbor Film Festival and The Rotterdam Film Festival. 


John’s own CD releases include a collection of dance club music titled, “Johnny’s House,” a self-composed  collection of contemplative music for piano and cello titled "Out of the Blue," and "I Am," a collection of spiritual vocal music also self-composed.  He is currently working on a new CD collection of original piano pieces scheduled for release in 2008.
